Alex Okuliar is a partner and co-chair of Morrison & Foerster’s Global Antitrust Law Practice Group. Until recently, he was the Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Civil Enforcement at the US Department of Justice Antitrust Division. In this role, Alex oversaw the Division’s work reviewing mergers and investigating potentially anticompetitive conduct, including the agency’s market-wide review of competition among digital platforms. Alex also participated in shaping Division policy at the intersection of antitrust and intellectual property. He joined the Division after nearly five years as a partner at another international law firm. Earlier in his career, Alex served as an attorney advisor to FTC Commissioner Ohlhausen and a trial attorney in the Antitrust Division. Alex has been practicing antitrust law for two decades with a focus on matters relating to technology, media and telecommunications. Prior to law school, Alex co-founded and led an online media company. Alex is a graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
