Taraneh Maghamé is a highly-regarded intellectual property business leader widely recognized for her unique combination of strategic corporate IP licensing know-how as well as high-level government relations and policy expertise. She has successfully closed complex IP business deals around the globe. Ms. Maghamé was recently selected to participate in the European Commission Group of Experts on Licensing and Valuation of
Standard Essential Patents.

As Vice President, Wireless Programs and Corporate Development, at Via Licensing Corporation, a subsidiary of American audio pioneer Dolby Laboratories, Ms. Maghamé develops and manages strategic multi-party licensing programs in wireless and cellular technologies — including the LTE/LTE-Advanced and W-CDMA patent pools. Ms. Maghamé also manages strategic projects and partner relationships and represents Via globally before regulatory, policy-setting and industry organizations.

Before joining Via in January 2017, Ms. Maghamé served as Senior Counsel in Apple’s IP and Licensing group, focusing on patent licensing strategy and standards. Her role included representing Apple in global standards-related organizations, including ETSI and ITU. Prior to Apple, Ms. Maghamé served as Acting General Counsel and Vice President for M&A, Patent Policy and Government Relations at Tessera Technologies in San Jose, California. In this high-profile policy role, she helped to found, and was spokesperson for, the Innovation Alliance, an organization representing patent holder’s interests before Congress. She has testified before the Senate Committee on the Judiciary and the Federal Trade Commission regarding patent law matters.

Ms. Maghamé has also served as Senior IP Counsel at Hewlett-Packard and Compaq Computer Corporation, and has been a member of the global law firms of Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison in Palo Alto and Perkins Coie in Seattle, where she specialized in intellectual property litigation, licensing, and counseling.

Ms. Maghamé has held leadership roles in professional organizations such as the Association of Corporation Counsel, Intellectual Property Owners Association, Federal Circuit Bar Association, and California Women Lawyers, and served as a member of the ABA House of Delegates. She speaks frequently on various intellectual property topics before business and professional audiences.

Ms. Maghamé is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and is admitted to practice in California and Washington State, as well as before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
