Amy L. Landers is a distinguished legal scholar, educator, and expert in intellectual property law. She earned her Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the University of California, Hastings College of Law (now UC Law San Francisco) and was inducted into the Order of the Coif.
Following law school, Professor Landers clerked for the Honorable Oliver W. Wanger (Ret.) of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California. She then joined Orrick’s Silicon Valley office, where she spent a decade handling high-profile intellectual property litigation. As a partner at Orrick, she led major patent, copyright, trade secret, and antitrust cases, working closely with technology clients. Her litigation expertise covered all phases of complex disputes, from pre-filing investigations to trial and appellate advocacy.
After joining Drexel University’s Kline School of Law, she has worked to shape the field through her scholarship, teaching, and mentorship. A prolific scholar, Professor Landers has authored and co-edited multiple books, including Understanding Patent Law (4th edition). Her work has been published in leading law reviews, where she explores issues in patent law, including monetary remedies, valuation, and the impact of patents on innovation.
Beyond her publications, Professor Landers is an active participant in national and international intellectual property discourse. She is currently the Intellectual Property Section Chair of the American Association of Law Schools. She is a frequent presenter at conferences held by the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), as well as leading universities worldwide, including Stanford, the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Sydney. With a career dedicated to advancing intellectual property law, Professor Landers continues to contribute to legal scholarship, policy discussions, and the education of future legal professionals.
