Mr. Genet is a Director of Chicago-based litigation finance firm Longford Capital, where he is responsible for investment sourcing, underwriting, and monitoring.

Prior to joining Longford Capital, Mr. Genet was a partner in the international law firm of Nixon Peabody LLP, where he served as the national leader of the firm’s IP Litigation Practice Group. He has 20 years of experience representing corporate clients in defending and monetizing IP rights in a wide array of industries, including electronics, computers, software, telecommunications, medical devices, and many others.

Mr. Genet has significant experience litigating complex intellectual property matters in federal courts throughout the US and before the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He has also prosecuted patent applications and represented clients in interferences, ex parte reexaminations, and inter partes reviews before the USPTO.

Mr. Genet was recognized in 2017 as an Illinois Super Lawyer for IP Litigation; in 2014 and 2015 as a leading Illinois litigator by the IAM Patent 1000; and in 2013 and 2014 as an “IP Star” by Managing Intellectual Property.

He holds a JD from the Chicago-Kent College of Law and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Illinois; the US Court of Appeals, Federal Circuit; the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (Trial Bar); the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas; US District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin; US Court of Federal Claims; and the USPTO.

He is currently a member of the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago, and has been a member of the Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois.
